How often should mulch be replaced or refreshed?
Most properties in this area get mulch refreshed once a year, usually in spring, because organic mulch breaks down over the season and the colour fades. Some beds hold up well enough to go longer, and heavily shaded or sloped beds sometimes need attention sooner. We will tell you what your beds actually need when we look at them rather than putting everyone on the same cycle.
How deep should mulch be applied?
Enough to cover the soil evenly without burying the plants. Too thin and light still reaches the soil, so weeds come through and the moisture benefit is limited.
